It takes a lot of effort to move from one place to another. Ironically, what makes heavy cargo difficult to move is the fact that it’s hard to stop them from moving. Its sheer weight is not enough to make it stay on its carpet. It is difficult to keep in place once it starts moving.

Inertia dictates that an object will keep going in one direction once it starts moving unless something stops it. For example, a cabinet is placed on top of a truck for transportation, while on the highway, the truck had to make a sharp turn to the right. Inertia forces the cabinet to keep going straight, causing it to fall off and crash to the ground. While it is already bad enough to have a damaged cabinet, it would have been worse if someone was unlucky enough to get in the cabinet’s way.

There are lots of options to take in order to keep heavy cargo firmly secured on the pallet, and one of the most effective methods is by strapping it down. Strapping or banding makes use of straps or banding that keep the cargo in place during transportation. The straps are available in different kinds of materials, but the strongest and most popular straps are made of stainless steel.

There are different advantages that stainless steel has over other strapping materials. However, stainless steels main advantage is its tremendous strength. Most straps made of other materials easily snap off or stretch because of the level of tension caused by heavy cargo weight. A stainless steel band has enough strength to hold cargo that plastic or other banding materials can’t.

Although other banding straps strong enough to handle heavy cargo are usually made of steel or iron, which are both susceptible to rust. Rust greatly weakens iron and steel, making them brittle and useless. Furthermore, there is a chance that the rust from the straps can spread to the cargo itself, causing terrible damage. A stainless steel banding strap does not develop rust, making it a perfect choice for cargo transportation on ships, where salt can rapidly cause rusting within days.

A stainless steel banding strap is available in different measurements. The most common measurement is about a half inch in width, but some are three-quarter inch wide. Steel straps require special tensioners and seals, as normal tools are not strong enough.
